The purpose of this policy is to explain how we handle information we collect from you during your visit to our web site. Information Collected and Stored Automatically: When you visit our web site to read pages or download information, we automatically collect and store the following non-identifying information:

The Use of Persistent Cookies and Tracking Technology: Maine Forestry does not use "persistent cookies" or other "persistent tracking technology."

Information Collected from E-mail: When you send us personally identifying information in an e-mail, we use the information you provide only to help us gather the information you might request. In an effort to respond to your requests, the information in your e-mail is protected in accordance with law (e.g., the Privacy Act and the Freedom of Information Act). For the most part, all information submitted by visitors is voluntary. Submitting voluntary information constitutes your consent to the use of the information in the stated purpose. In some cases, such as when a user requests a product or fills out a survey or census, some identifiable information will need to be collected to fulfill your request or process your response.  E-mail is not secure against interception. Whether or not e-mail is encrypted in transmission depends on both the sender's and the recipient's software.

Links to Other Web Sites: Our web site contains links to other and private organizations. Once you link to another site you are subject to the policies of the new site.

Privacy Policy for Purchasers of Maine Forestry Products

The following additional policies apply to purchasers of products when they are offered in the future.

To order products, you will have to provide us with personally identifiable information to support the purchase. The information you provide may be entered into a database maintained to service our customers. While law protects personally identifiable information you provide, we may be required by law to disclose the names and addresses of businesses that purchase our products.

If you are providing a credit card number, link to our catalog page to learn about our credit card security policy. Any page describing a product for sale by e-commerce will include a "Buy" box at the bottom. Clicking on the box will take you to a page linking to our credit card security statement.

Transient cookies are enabled to track your order through the process.

Privacy Act Statement for Purchases of Products:

Any information that we collect for the purpose of purchasing census products may be subject to disclosure, but will be handled in accordance with the requirements of the Privacy Act and the Freedom of Information Act to ensure the greatest protection of personal privacy in the face of any required disclosure.
 

The Privacy Act Statement for records subject to the Privacy Act, which is about 10 percent of the records, is provided below.

Maine Forestry will not capture credit card numbers on our servers. Credit card, debit card, and check transactions are processed through independent processors as stated on the site.  Maine Forestry LLC collects customer information (name, address, phone number, and email address) to process orders for products. Any information that would permit identification of individual customers is used only for this purpose and not shared with other agencies or organizations. Information on business or organization customers is used only for this purpose and not shared with other agencies or organizations, but, is subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act. If you choose not to enter your email address, you cannot complete your order online. However, you can call our Customer Services Center at (207) 444-4896 and place an order without providing an email address. Customers with questions on privacy should consult with Maine Forestr .

For the benefit of our visitors, Maine Forestry's Web site contains links to third party sites not operated by the Maine Forestry LLC.
